I've been going to this gym in our neighborhood recently, as one of my efforts to get back in (my college) shape haha! Having an active lifestyle a few years back mostly because of dancing, I got to keep fit despite my huge appetite. However, ever since I got a job, dancing (or even just simple workouts) just wouldn't fit in my schedule and 'energy meter' anymore (oh and my choice of food worsen lol) thus, the weight gain.

The gym's Al Functional Zone - which is just a 10-minute jog from my house, a perfect warm-up for the workout class (making me exempted from another pre-workout jogging before the class starts yas!haha). Their facilities aren't like your typical gym with strength-training machines and other intimidating equipment.

They are offering functional training here so I guess that's why, there are less of the machines and more of making use of the different parts of the body for training. I got this definition from Wikipedia which says, Functional Training is ‘training the body for the activities performed in daily life’. And from my experience so far, it is quite a precise definition. I enjoy doing the workouts and there's no complicated machine to learn to operate, kidding aside, I get to make use of my body (with a little help from the simple equipment like weights, suspensions bands, etc.) to achieve my fitness goals (naks!) - which the coaches ask you about here also.

I actually have some snippets of the exercises I do in class... (note: do not judge haha)

I did Prowler March with pushing this sled with 30kg weights - so proud of myself lol.

I also tried working on Muscle-Ups. One of the old-timers, Jeff demonstrated it to me effortlessly (no look haha). He made it look easy! But when it was already my turn, my weakling of a pair of arms, died.

Another set of our Goals vs. Reality photo is with the Muscle-Up, L-Sit (and yes, I couldn't even lift my leg a bit) I need a few more training sessions for this!!

I also tried some TRX - the T-Spine Stretch, as demonstrated by one of my coaches, Coach Al.

And of course, my favorite, ab exercises!!

There, a peek on my journey to my Pia-Wurtzbach body HAHA! I know, I know, I got a long way to go. Hope you like my first entry regarding my 'journey'. I'll be posting about our other classes, hopefully, soon :) And to those interested to visit Al Functional Zone, it is at # 16 Aquamarine Street, Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City (near Marikina Hotel). They have classes from 8am to 11am| 4pm - 5:15pm | 5:15 - 6:15pm | 7:15pm - 8:15pm | 8:15pm - 9:15pm | 9:15 - 10:15pm. Boxing and Muay Thai classes are also offered :)

 Here's to more fitness celebrations!!
